The Blood Elves under Prince Kael'thas Sunstrider are one of the many playable races in Dark Ages of Warcraft. They start off with Netherstorm and Tempest Keep. They are initially allied with the Illidari .

- Blood Elf Liuthenant - Medium melee unit, adept at harming spellcasters. Has Spellsteal, Feedback and Resistant Skin. Can learn Defend.
- Blood Warrior - Medium melee unit. Has Charge and Swift Strike. Can Learn Defend.
- Archer - Medium ranged unit. Has Searing Arrows and Shadowmeld. Can learn Arrow Strike.
- Spell Breaker - Anti-spellcaster unit, adept at harming spellcasters and negating spell effects. Has Spellsteal and Feedback. Can learn Control Magic.
- Eredar Sorcerer - Supportive spellcaster. Has Soul Burn and Feedback. Can learn Summon Felhound and Demonic Infusion.
- Blood Sage - Supportive spellcaster. Has Mana Burn and Lightning Shield. Can learn Devour Magic and Inner Fire.
- Blood Mage - Strong and expensive offensive spellcaster. Has Chain of Fire, Rain of Fire, Exile, Mana Drain and Resistant Skin.
- Glaive Thrower - Long-ranged siege unit. Can learn Vorpal Blades.
- Dragonhawk Rider - Swift flying unit, adept at anti-air combat. Has Soaring Chains. Can Learn Cloud.

- "Crowning of a new Sun King." : When Kael'thas reaches level 6, you can bring him to Silvermoon City. You will gain control of the Blood Elf units in Quel'thalas and gain 2 new heroes (Lor'themar and Anveena). You will no longer be able to summon Kil'jaeden.

- "Tempest Keep was mearly a setback!" : If you bring Kael at the Sunwell, you will start summoning Kil'jaeden to the world. However, you won't be able to ally anyone else.
- "The Magister's Terrace." : If you bring Kael'thas to the Magister's Terrace at level 10 or Tempest Keep is destroyed, you will gain The Magister's Terrace.
